I'm guessing that the logo is part of a background image. If the background
is solid, you can cover the logo by matching the background color.

See the other answers as well, but if this is in PPT 2007, the logo might be on
the slide master rather than on the specific slide's layout.
A master can have several layouts as its "children"; they show up below it in
master view on the left in the thumbnails pane.
Anything on the master will appear on all of the child layouts.
Anything on the layouts will appear on slides based on the layout. Including
stuff the layout inherited from its mamaMaster
