remove buttons not in add remove programs

in add remove programs the remove buttons are all gone except if i install
somthing new in the regestry editor only 2 programs were there under unistall
i switched the value to 0 and it brought the remove button back for the 2
programs but the rest still dont have remove buttons and are not in the
location in the registry editor Any other options?

Looks like somehow that "system restore" has been disabled/turned off. And
once the PC is turned off and turned back on all the restore points are gone.
The OS will boot and see all these programs but has no idea where they came
from or when they were installed. Which leaves no uninstall info for windows
to use.
If this is the case I have no idea about repair.
What I did was move all important data to another drive and reinstall the OS.

poatt, It's not the case. . . the Uninstall info is in the registry,
written there when the program is installed. Whether you have System
Restore turned on or not doesn't affect that. Unless the key got somehow
deleted, in which case System Restore would likely have a copy of the
pre-disaster registry. But I don't think that's what happened here,
since tonedog still has the programs listed in Add/Remove.
What I did was move all important data to another drive and reinstall the OS.

Glad you got it sorted out, but it probably wasn't necessary to
reinstall.
