remove as default program

How to remove office outlook as the default program for email. I tried click
the tool menu option to unchecked the box "make outlook as the default email
program" and click appy, it didn't work. Now I can't even open outlook
express to get to the old messages and address book. Is there a way to
import the address book and all local folder from outlook express?

I'm afraid I really don't understand what you're trying to do. What version
of Outlook are you using? Were you using Office Outlook or Outlook Express
to get your mail previously? Which one do you want to use going forward?
Why can't you open Outlook Express - what happens when you try?

Have you gone to Internet Explorer | Tools | Internet Options | Programs
to see what it thinks the default program is?

I was using outlook Express before and would like to have the option to do
so. Now that you suggest going to the IE tool>internet option>program and I
see the option to receive email, thank you.
