Remove all attachments in Inbox

How would I go about:
Saving all my attachments into one Folder appending the Filename with a 1,
if there is already a file by that name?
Then, deleting all attachments from the emails.

Can this be done? I'd like to purge my email of attachments once per week
rather than on an email by email basis.

It can be done. Are you sure you want to code it yourself? There are a
lot of tools available, e.g. on
www.slipstick.com/addins/housekeeping.htm. AFAIK some are for free.
