Good day,
I hope this is the right area? I want to removed Outlook Express since we
have Windows Live Email, but Outlook Express is not in the add/remove program
area. How can we properly remove this program as well as the icons? Thank
you. -s

Yes, OE is Add/Remove under Add/Remove Windows Components. You will see
this on the left hand side of the window that opens when you open
Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel.

That is ok, someone called "Alias" was very kind enough to help us even
though we could not find the area to post this.

We thank the person "Alias" who responded and helped us out. Sometimes it's
good to help even when something is posted in a different area, Peter.
Outlook or Express.

Thanks again Aliase! -Dana

You're welcome; glad to help you sort it out. If MS would stop naming
the products so similarly, it would be easier to know what group to post
in and don't let the net nannies affect you. Some people just want to
help and others will only help under their terms ;-)

That said, check out Thunderbird at http://www.mozilla.com/thunderbird/.
It's very easy to back up and I think it's more stable than either
Windows Live Mail or Outlook Express. Oh, and it's free.

HI Alias,
"Net Nannies" (smile). I like that, funny :). Really, Thunderbird is
better? Can you add multiple email addresses? Yahoo and Hotmail?

Thank you sweetie for your help ;). I will look into it. -Dana

Thunderbird can do anything that OE or Windows Live Mail can do and more
like adding a calendar. To back up everything in T-Bird, all you have to
do is copy three files. If you have to reinstall Windows, you replace
the default files with the backed up files and you will have all your
messages, email accounts and address book again. The only thing you'll
need to do is input the passwords.

Define "Hooplheads". She asked a question and got the correct answers.
Isn't that what these groups are for?

don't let the net nannies affect you.

Do you ask your auto mechanic about your medical problems? Does your gardener
take care of your dental issues? Directing people to the correct newsgroup is
not being a "net nanny", it is providing the questioner with the resources
that can BEST address the problem.

I guess you can't help the OP either and can only assume the role of a
net nanny with her panties all in a bunch. If you want to blame someone,
blame Microsoft for naming their programs so similarly. How many times
have people come to this group looking to get help with OE?

No one disputes the problems with naming. What we dispute is the fact that
you're answering off-topic posts, thereby doing those you believe you're
helping a disservice by not teaching them the best way to get their questions
answered.

The best way is an answer that works, which I provided and you didn't.
You just wanted to play hall monitor. Now bugger off.

Mr. Willett,
This is very inappropriate Mr. Willett. Our Agency is surprised that our
responses have been removed by MS, yet yours was allowed. Is this what our
Agency is to expect from MS newsgroups? Does anyone have contact info to MS
newsgroups. We would like to know from those who are Director’s of all these
newsgroups? Thank you.

That's because you're using Micro$lut's web interface. If you use a news
reader like Windows Live Mail or Thunderbird and don't use Micro$lut's
server and use something like aioe.org or http://news.motzarella.org/,
they can't censor from anywhere but their own servers and you will
appear on Google forever and on thousands of servers other than
Micro$lut servers. The former (aioe) requires no registration.
Motzarella does require registration, a user name and password. Both are
FREE.

None of your messages have been removed. I can see every single one of them.
Microsoft rarely monitors this newsgroup and in the five or six years I've
been reading it, never once have I seen a message removed by Microsoft.

This is an unmoderated newsgroup. No one has removed your messages.
