Remote system attempting access

Just now I got a popup on my XP Pro notebook from Norton Internet Security
saying "A Remote System is attempting to access your computer. Protocol:
UDP (Inbound). Remote Address: 0.0.0.0: bootpc (68).

Of course, I told NIS to block the access but I'm curious how it got this
far. I have home wifi network with router as gateway. How can I get
inbound from a remote system? Unless it is from something on my own network
but why would that be considered remote? Any clues?

(Also cross posting this on Security.virus)

Bootpc (68) is a remote client call for an Ip on a diskless system from the
server Bootps (67).

You should be on DHCP from your router. are you using an SSID with a wep key
and 128 bit encryption or better?

The other cause could be your wireless network allowed some one on the
network to broadcast for an IP to the router or your own (pc) local host
used IP 0.0.0.0 for a DHCP address request.

I am on DHCP and am using SSID with wep64 and will soon move to either
wep128 or WPA.

I've gotten this same message again tree or four times since my original
post. Perhaps this message is coming from somewhere on my network. Maybe
my wireless printer. I've got 3 computers on this network and the other
two aren't getting this message. Although one of them cannot go to standby
now because some mysterious device is preventing it. These two problems
started at about the same time.

Any idea of what I could do to troubleshoot it?
