I use Remote Desktop regularly to connect to my work PC from home.
It seems, after installing SP2 at work, whenever I come back to work after
having used my remote desktop, many (but not all) of my windows are resized
to a window of zero width and height and located far to the left of the
screen (i.e., something like an X-coordinate of -16000). I haven't been
able to determine which windows will be "resized". It doesn't seem to be
related to which windows I "used" while at home.
The only way I can get these windows to appear again is to click on the
window's icon in the task bar, then use the keyboard to select "Move", then
use the keyboard arrow keys to move the window until I can see some of its
title bar. Then I can use the mouse to resize the window to its correct size.
Needless to say, this is a very frustrating set of steps I have to go
through every morning after having a remote session run from home. I've been
using remote desktop for a couple years now and never before have had to
resize my windows in this manner. The only correlation I can come up with is
upgrading to SP2. Both my work desktop and home desktop screen dimensions
are 1600x1200. My remote sign-in session uses the same resolution of
1600x1200. My work PC has two monitors (the second monitor desktop is only
1024x768), but my home PC has only one monitor.
Any ideas or suggestions on what may cause the windows to shrink to zero
size after running a remote desktop session? This fact alone has caused me
to use the remote desktop less and less to avoid the hassle of resizing
windows at work in the morning.
Thanks,
