My other computer will show a Remote Procedure Call error
of some type while I am online. When this happens, the
computer gives me about 60 seconds to close all programs
before it restarts the computer. I have been unable to
find a solution on the Microsoft web pages. Anyone have
a solution. It is very frustrating.
Thanks

You probably have the Sasser or Blaster worm. See this:

http://www.microsoft.com/security/incident/sasser.asp

You can check your system for infestation from this
(above) site.

To prevent shutdown, after receiving the NT Authority
message, go to Start, Run and type shutdown -a then hit
OK. This will prevent the shutdown.

A tool called Stinger will remove the worm from your
system, it's free:

http://vil.nai.com/vil/stinger/

Be SURE to read the instructions for XP ! (carefully)

You should get anti-spyware software (SpyBot AND Adaware)
and use them regularly (both have free versions). And keep
them updated !

www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/

Also download the latest Microsoft Critical Updates
(from Internet Explorer go to the Tools menu and hit
Windows Update) and also run updated anti-virus software.
Scan your computer at least twice monthly !

And be CERTAIN your Internet Connection Firewall is
activated.

Good Luck !

You've been infected with one of the recent worms, probably
Blaster or Sasser. For specific help, please post the exact
verbatim text of the message you receive about shutting down.
