Remote Procedure Call

Hi there, A friend bought a second hand PC that has
windows XP Professional installed. When we try and access
the internet on a 56k Modem, after about 30 seconds we
get the error message: SYSTEM SHUTDOWN: NT\AUTHORITY
SYSTEM: Remote Procedure Call (RPC) terminated
unexpectedly" THen a countdown begins where the system is
automatically shutdown and then restarted. So far this
has only happened when we try to connect to the internet.

Any help or advice would be gratefully received - many
