My friend keeps gettingf that when he is browsing the
Internetk, does anyone know the cause of this and any
possible solutions?

As soon as you can! You are running the 32-bit version

Also enable Windows XP's built in firewall:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;283673

Then go to WindowsUpdate to pick up the latest updates:
http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com
