'Remote Procedure Call Failed' on Installs

On recent installs, the installs seem to stop proceeding. When I quite from task manager, I get a delyaed error 'Remote Procedure Call Failed'

Any suggestions?

Is your antivirus up to date? There are a few viruses out there that
attack the RPC on 2000/XP machines.
 
Norton, and up-to-date.
