Remote Desktop/Web w/ Multiple Monitors

J

Jonathan

would like to connect to work pc from home. tried
pcAnywhere and Gotomypc. the problem is that if you have
multiple monitors they only access the main one. So if
you open an application and it appears on another monitor
you cant see it.

any idea if remote desktop or remote desktop
webconnection have the same limitations? also, what is
the difference between the two?

Jonathan, I have no idea about the multiple monitor question as I have never
tried it. However, the difference between Remote Desktop Connection (RDC)
and Remote Desktop Web Connection (RDWC), is basically, that with RDC you
use the RDC client software to connect and with RDWC you connect with your
browser so you have the ability to log in from machines without the RDC
client or that may have firewall issues. In order to use RDWC you must have
IIS running on the host computer.

Multiple monitors are not supported in Remote Desktop.

if you temporarily turn off the second monitor then the applications will
pop onto the main screen.

You can also right click on the progam in your taskbar, and select
'Restore' that will maxmize the application on your main monitor.

I would like a RDC (Remote Desktop Connection) tool that will display
on multiple monitors, anybody?

I suggest trying out something called Pmg Connect (www.pmgconnect.com).
Its new and seems to work very well. Some of us at work are using it
to connect to our work PCs from home with Remote Desktop.
