Yep! Everyday.

Yes. Vista to XP Pro will work.

To go the other way requires Vista Ultimate or Business

Great!! does it matter what version of Vista I use? Thanks alot

I had a problem, at first, running RD on my Vista Ultimate machine to my
WinXP Pro machine (and networking, for that matter). On both machines, I
have different logins (my wife's and mine on the XP, admin and mine on the
Vista machine).

The problem was that I was not requiring passwords for the logins. As soon
as I added a password (I made the user name and password the same for my
account on both machines), everything worked great, including RD.

Hope this helps. It would have saved /me/ a lot of hours! ;-)

I just noticed you said to your WORK XP machine (mine are both on a home
network). I can't say about that, then. I know I can't get into my work
machine without VPN software and connection, which the company will not let
us install on any non-work-owned PC.

vista will allow you to do that. It only gives a message telling you that the
other operating system is other than vista and if u still wish to connect. If
you are trying to connect to your work computer from home then you will have
to use a vpn unless your computer has a real IP address assigned to it. If
you are trying to connect to it from your work network, then you will be able
to connect directly.

I have vista business at home and xp pro at work. My problem is that I cannot
seem to "share" my home printer. In other words, I cannot print work docs to
my home printer. I can download and upload fine, but it would be convenient
to print docs from my work computer (xp pro) to my home printer (vista
business attached via USB)

Yeah, I should have mentioned that it was checked. It still does not give my
home printer as an option.

You have to change a setting in the registry for USB printers. I had the
same problem. Do a google search, if I can find it again will post the
link.

Thanks - Tried the regedit on both home(vista) and work(xp) computers but did
not work.

Bummer, The only machine I had to use regedit was this new Vista machine at
home. I agree about the print function - I use the Remote Desktop every
night to connect to my office and always printing out stuff here at home
from the office.

I ran into this when I switch out the old printer which was using LPT1 to
this new printer which is connected via USB.

Only other thing I can think of is to make sure all the printer drivers are
installed on the remote computer also.

Good Luck on getting it to work.
