Remote desktop resolution

Using Remote Desktop from XP to a Win200 Server - I can
only get 256 colors, which makes the screen almost
unreadable with our software spplication.

The problem doesn't occur with Win 2003. How can I
increase colour depth on the remote screen?

It is not possible with Win2000 Server terminal services.

The additional color depth was added in version 5.1 of the RDP
protocol - Win2K only supports version 5.0. The additional color
depths are supported in WinxP Remote Desktop and Windows 2003 Remote
Desktop/Terminal Services
