remote desktop question

"the local policy does not allow you to log on interactively" error message
when attempting to log on via Remote Desktop to an XP Pro (sp1 w/ all
security updates) machine. This machine was upgraded from windows 2000. The
'allow remote users to log on' etc.. for remote desktop is checked off. I
get the same error even when trying to log on as the local administrator
account? I have several other XP Pro machines that I RD to and I don't
remember having to do anything other than checking off that 'allow remote
users to log on..' box... The only difference I can think of at the moment
is that this machine was upgraded rather than having a clean install of XP
performed.

I will go check the local policy settings but I thought I would just throw
this out to the newsgroup first in case someone can save me some time.

Thanks in advance. Any info is appreciated.

After checking the option, you have to click on the "Select Remote Users"
button and specify the users you want to have RDP access to the machine.

Thanks for the reply. However, local administrators do not need to be
specified. They have access by default.

I have the exact same issue with one XP workstation and no
others. I finally gave up as I was not able to figure out
the problem. Good luck

Security auditing made this entry in security log:

ID 534, Logon Type 10, Logon Process User32 (this is a logon failure event)

the type 10 refers remote interactive logon (RDP).

So the system thinks I (administrator) and all other accounts are NOT
allowed to login via Remote Desktop. I don't know why??? I even manually
added the administrators group to the local security policy 'allow logon via
remote desktop' option.

????
