Remote desktop problem

Hi everyone,

I have a problem with my XP Pro based machine.
When I'm trying to connect to it it logs the error:

Terminal server event ID 50
The RDP protocol component X.224 detected an error in the protocol stream
and has disconnected the client.

I've read an article, KB312313, but according to it the problem occurs only
in Win2000.
The above problem doen't exist when the PC is restarted - 1st attempt is
always successfull. After I disconnect, can't log back in.

Any help appreciated as I haven't found anything on the net.

Thanks,

What was the "source"?

You mean the source service that causes problems...?
If I get you right then it's TermDD...

However I found out that "someone" has turned on the FAST USER SWITCHING.
I turned it off and everything went back to normal.

Is that normal ? Could that be a problem ?

Well, I don't know if that could be a problem or not. I don't see that on my
XP Pro box.

Beyond that you might look at these and see if anything helps...

Well, I've seen that page.
I've done everything it says about and it didn't solve the issue.
No software has been installed recently so no way as this page sugests that
other software can overwrites files.
Anyway, for me problem is solved as I can access my PC now.

Thanks for replying.

im not sure about that error message, but I know that Xp can only service 2
remote connections at a time, one Remote Desktop and a RAS connection. If you
are accessing a server it allows a third connection of the person sitting at
the machine (logged on using another account)... any more connections than
that then only server machines run Terminal Service can help. With XpPro if
Fast user switching is enabled then the machine does not log off another user
but tries to start another connection using the remote desktop... Xp pro only
allows one active logon, and your remote desktop connection will fail...
somtimes you can get as far as loading your desktop and then it will
automatically log you off and drop the connection.
