Remote Desktop Printing... Vista Client

R

Ruecom

I have a home worker that has a laptop with Vista Home Premium and remotely
connects to our Terminal Server 2003 using Remote Desktop.
I need to be able to make laptop print to it's local USB printer when in a
TS Session.
The printer is a Brother MFC printer, but it doesn't show up as a redirected
printer when I'm in a TS session. None of the printers installed on the
laptop show up.
The Win XP pro systems worked just fine after the registry patch was applied.

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Terminal
Server\Client\Default\AddIns\RDPDR] "FilterQueueType"=dword:ffffffff

This didn't help the Vista system.
All the RDC connection options are set correctly.
Thanks in advance

Hi,

Any 1111 Events in the Terminal Server System Event log ?

There are 1111 Events.
I ran the TSPDRW_package program and tried to setup a driver for the Brother
MFC-7220 device. After downloading and expanding 3 different driver files
from Brother, I got the following error when I clicked on Have Disk to select
the driver.

The specified location does not contain a compatible software driver for
your device. If the location contains a driver, make sure it is designed to
work with Windows for 32-bit systems.

I can't get any of the Brother drivers installed for this device.

Thanks for the help

Hi,

This is where your problem lies: you have to install the EXACT same drivers
for the local printer and on the terminal server.

I do not know about TSPDRW, I install my drivers on the TS from Start |
Printers and Faxes | File | Server properties | Drivers | Add...

If you can't add the Vista drivers to the TS, try changing the drivers on
your local machine to a version that will.
