Since I've installed the public preview of XPSP2-RC2. I find that Remote Desktop only works when I'm running Safe Mode with Networking. Assumed this meant that somehow the XP firewall that comes with RC2 was blocking Remote Desktop. I made sure that Remote Desktop was clicked as an exception - still couldn't get through. So turned the firewall off altogether - still couldn't get through.
Message I'd get under all these full-start up circumstances was that Remote Desktop said - Fatal Error [Error Message: 5] - may be low on memory, close some programs. I run a really lean start up (1 program; 22 processes) - but nevertheless shut down the program and the 5 non-Microsoft processes - and still can't get Remote Desktop to go. Go back to safe mode with networking and all is fine. So seems that there must be some Microsoft process that is hampering the connection.
Any ideas on what process might be blocking Remote Desktop when XP is fully booted?
Thanks
