Is it possible for a Windows 2000Pro machine to be a
Remote Desktop Host? Or can only XP machines be hosts?

If they can, what do I need to make Win2k Pro a host?

Thanks.

Hi Dave-

Only XP Pro has this capability (and 2k3). To be able to remote control your
2KPro you would need to look into 3rd party apps. Pcanywhere, Timbuktu,
Remote Administrator, and VNC are some. (VNC is free on the net).

or you can use netmeeting remote desktop sharing
you activate it in netmeeting and then close netmeeting and remote desktop
sharing activates itself.
thehn from the other computer, place a secure call to the one running remote
desktop sharing (by IP address) and you should take over the desktop. you
must be an admin of teh computer being controlled

if you are in a local area network, yes, name is enough, but if it is over
the internet you'll need the IP.
