Remote Desktop Audio Out?

J

James

Hello There, wonder if anyone can help with this one...

I am accessing a windows XP system via remote desktop. I want to be able to
allow audio to be output from the sound card installed in the remote system.
But when I log onto the remote system and launch a music player etc, the
audio is played back on the local pc. I want to be able to get the audio to
play from the soundcard and speakers of the remote computer, not my local
one.
Does anyone know if this is possible with a tweak or two?

Its rather a strange request I know, but thats how I need it to be for this
specific setup.

Thanks
James

When you open the Remote Desktop client, click the "Options" button, then
the "Local Resources" tab. Change Remote computer sound to "Leave at remote
computer".

Hi Dale, thanks very much for your reply.... I have now got one step closer
to how I want the system to work. I have noticed that when I end the remote
desktop connection, the music stops! I want the system to carry on playing
the playlist even after I end the remote desktop connection. Do you know if
this is possible?.. That was my aim. I want to use the system as a music
player, but don't want to be logged onto the system all the time. Thanks
Dale... I guess I'm asking too much, but if you do know how it can be
achieved, I would appreciate it extremely.

Just thought I would answer my own post for other people's benefit. I have
just installed Winamp instead of using the built in Windows Media Player,
and the audio continues to play even after the remote desktop session has
ended. Mission accomplished! Thanks again Dale for the help.
