Remote Desktop and VPN

Hi,

When I run Remote Desktop with my father's computer every thing works fine.
We both have XP Pro and SP2 installed. We are not in the same network but we
have public dynamic IP addresses.

Configuration one:
I want my computer to run Remote Dektop (so I can do the configurations on
my father's computer) and I want my computer to work as a VPN Server.
When I try to establish a VPN connection between his computer and my
computer I always get Error 678: ....

Configuration two:
I run Remote Desktop (so I can do the configurations on my father's
computer) and I connect to his computer throu a VPN Connection. My father's
computer works as a VPN Server in this case. The VPN connection and Remote
Desktop work just fine.

Why does it work like this?

Does my computer work as a client in both cases? Please help me!

David

When the VPN is connected between the two PCs, you need to use the "remote"
PC's IP address and not the Internet address.

Also, remote desktop does not allow access to user accounts with "blank"
passwords. However, there is a "group policy" setting which will turn this
"blocking" off.
