I've just set up a Windows 2000 server and am looking for a way to
administer the machine remotely using a command-line interface only. My
searches on the subject keep coming up with suggestions for Terminal
Server, pcAnywhere, VNC, etc., all of which offer a "desktop" which is
what I don't want.

If someone can offer some suggestions, tips, I'd be very grateful.
Thank you.

You could use psexec.exe from www.sysinternals.com.

You're a good man, Pegasus. Looks promising. Any comments as to
whether it's possible run an X server using cygwin so that I can get a
bash shell?

Thanks.

Sorry, I haven't tried this angle and I have no opportunity to test it.
