Remote Access my Wireless Home Network

I want to configure my Belkin wireless G router and Window XP PRO Desktop PC
so I can Term Serve into my desktop PC via the Internet. Does anyone know how
to set this up? Basically I’d like to Remote Control my PC at home via the
Internet at Work. However I can’t get past my Wireless Router Firewall, and
don’t know how to configure it. Thanks anyone for the help.

I do exactly what you've described, running Remote Desktop through my
Belkin Wireless G router. To configure the router:

1. Connect to the router's web interface and log in.

2. Click "Virtual Servers" under "Firewall".

3. Add an entry for Remote Desktop:

Inbound port: 3389-3389
Type: TCP
Private IP address: XP Pro desktop's IP address
Private port: 3389-3389

To make this work, I recommend:

1. Assigning a static IP address to the XP Pro desktop.

2. Subscribing to a dynamic DNS service (e.g. www.dyndns.org) so that
you can access your router using a domain name.

3. Running a dynamic DNS update program (e.g. www.directupdate.net) on
the XP PRO desktop.

4. Creating a very good password for your user account. Anyone on the
Internet who can figure out your user name and password will be able
to connect to your computer just like you do.
