Reminders no longer pop up in Outlook 2003 - what happened?

I use reminders all the time for Tasks - all of a sudden they no longer
"remind" with pop ups or sound. What happened to them and how can I get them
back.

Start Outlook one time with the /Cleanreminders switch.

Tried that - it opened Outlook - but the reminders do not work still. I
reset one for this morning to see if they needed to be reset to work - but
still no go. What next? I really need these!
