remembering sort selections

In some worksheets when I select "sort" the dialogue box come up with my
previous sort selections already listed. In other worksheets it doesn't
"remember" my previous sorts. How can I get a worksheet to remember previous
sorts

Isn't it retained for just each session, just like "Find & Replace"?
