Remembering Passwords etc

B

Bill Roberts

I have done a clean reinstal of Vista due to a virus

When I go to various sites, its does not remember passwords etc
and also it used to automatically replace plain icons on my quick launch
task bar with pictures of the site after I had visited them.

I have gone to autocomplete and checked all the boxes but
nothing is happining

Help would be appreciated.

Bill - suggest you download and install Password Safe from
http://passwordsafe.sourceforge.net/
The most convenient install file for Vista 32 bit is probably
pwsafe-3.16.msi
from
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=41019&package_id=33169&release_id=660483
You keep a database of your passwords encrypted and secured by a single
password and it can paste your username and password into the target
webpage. It takes a little setting up but after a time you will wonder how
you managed without it. I have been using it for many years and it keeps
improving with each update. And it is free. Be sure to back it up (off site)
and to use a really strong password you won't forget!

You might have cookies disabled. I think you also might have (at least
some) Aero feautured turned off(regarding the Task Bar thumbnails).

Off topic, but do you know if that will work with Safari?
