I configured Outlook 2003 to connect Exchange Server 2003 directly from home
using RPC fiilter. My Outlook promt for user name and password as ususal.
However, there is no "Remember Password" checkbox for me to select.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Do you have the option checked under the Exchange server account settings to
prompt for password?

No, I don't. But I think I figured out the reason why there is no "Remember
Password" checkbox. The reason is I am using XP Media Center Edition 2005.
Even though it is based on XP professional, but the "cache credential"
feature is disabled by MS as explained on MCE's FAQ on MS's web site.
