relational mail merge

When pulling a mail merge from Access 2000 to create labels in Word, a
look-up field's reference number comes into the merge rather than the desired
text. How can that be resolved?

Create a query that joins to the lookup table. Select fields from both
tables. Use the query for the merge rather than the table.
