I am trying to set it up so that if I enter word/phrase in a document it gets
highlighted, underlined, so when I select it it will take me to another
reference using that same term or word.
There is nothing automatic to do that. You will have to insert a bookmark at the
place you want to go to. Then you can select the word/phrase at the place where
you want to go from, and do one of these things:
- use the Insert > Hyperlink command, select "Place in this document" in the
leftmost column, and select the proper bookmark. The "Text to display" box
should contain the word/phrase, which will appear blue and underlined.
- use the Insert > Reference > Cross-reference command, tell it you want to
refer to a bookmark and "insert as hyperlink", and select the proper bookmark.
This will behave the same way as a hyperlink, but you won't easily be able to
make it blue and underlined.
