Rejected by POST filter

This happens with Outlook 2000 and Outlook Express. I cannot post to a
newsgroup with an attachment. I can receive newsgroups with attachments. I
can send email with attachments. But I cannot post to a newsgroup with an
attachment. I get the following error.

Outlook Express could not post your message. Subject 'Is this a font?
Anyone got one close to it ?', Account: 'newsgroups.bellsouth.net', Server:
'newsgroups.bellsouth.net', Protocol: NNTP, Server Response: '441 Posting
Failed (Rejected by POST filter)', Port: 119, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error:
441, Error Number: 0x800CCCA9

I thought problem was with my server, they say its Microsoft.

What newsgroup? Many do not allow attachments, including this one.

FWIW, newsgroups are different from email and just because something works
on one doesn't mean it will work on the other.

I was trying at alt.binaries.fonts. I also use alt.binaries.clipart

I even tried to do it at a bellsouth newsgroup, don't have the address handy
right now.

I don't know if there is something you don't have configured correctly or
not - check with the OE experts at microsoft.public.outlookexpress.general

E-mail is irrelevant to newsgroups, just like web browsing, FTP, and
your tire pressures are irrelevant to newsgroups. They use completely
different protocols. Also, this is not an Outlook issue. Outlook
doesn't do NNTP (network news transfer protocol). It calls Outlook
Express to do newsgroups.

You can do e-mail. Irrelevant. You can read posts that have
attachments. You cannot post a message that has attachments.
However, you really never said whether or not you can post a message
*without* an attachment.

Are any of the posts that you see in the unnamed newsgroup(s)
submitting by other Bellsouth users using the *same* NNTP server?
Just because you can retrieve posts with attachments doesn't mean you
can submit posts with attachments. Some NNTP servers are read-only
(so the other users are using a different NNTP server to access the
same newsgroup). Some NNTP servers carry binary newsgroups but don't
permit attachments (users of *other* NNTP servers can post with
attachments but you cannot using the NNTP that you use). The
webnews-for-dummies interface of Google Groups, for example, will let
you read binary newsgroups but it won't accept posts to any newsgroup
that have an attachment (as I recall, it accepts the post so it looked
to you like it got accepted but it then rejects the post without any
notice to you and you never see the post show up). You'll have to ask
Bellsouth if their NNTP server accepts attachments and to whichever
newsgroups you are trying to post.
I thought problem was with my server, they say its Microsoft.

The NNTP server is the one issuing the 441 error message, not whatever
NNTP client that you use. THEY will need to explain THEIR error
message.

What is the filetype that you are attaching to your post that THEY
then reject? Can you post to a *.test newssgroup that same filetype?
Can you post to a *.test newsgroup a message that has not other
filetype attached, something inocuous like a .txt file?
