reinstalling xp on a used computer

i baought a computer from a friend. he said they took out all there files and
they didnt . everytime i try to delete them i cant . i put the windows xp cd
in that came wit the computer and it says its an older version of xp. it also
says i wont be able to put it back. so i asked the friend i baught it from if
he did any up grades and he said he didnt . if i rinstal the xp will it
delete all there files so i can start fresh and do you think it would be ok
to do this.

Is English not your native language?

If you have the XP install CD and the product ID code that goes with it
you can do a clean install of Windows XP:
