So... My hard disk crashes. I replace it and load Windows XP professional
from the backup CDs and activate it without problem. Everything works like
a dream - best crash I've EVER had, but...My version of Windows XP is now
about three years out of date.

When I try to get the updates for XP issued over the last three years, the
WINDOWS update system thinks that I've already had them and won't let me
even see them. I can't even find a downloadable version of SP2 and I've
been looking for two hours.

Any advice gratefully received.

Thanks, but that microsoft site is for the server version. I only need the
one PC version. If I follow the link to the one PC version it throws me
right back into the automatic update system which tells me I already have
it! I'm getting really dizzy here with going round in these circles.

It's the same file. I have used it to update my Desktop and laptop winxp
pro. Bud gave the correct response. Download the file.
