Reinstalling WinXP Home

Hi, I have been trying to reinstall winxp but I cannot get it to able to
sort it out. I have set the first boot device to CD-ROM but when I press
space key WinXP opens up the usual way. I have been trying this on & off
all day & it's doing my head in.
I read on one site that if you have a USB keyboard it wont start
the reinstall, is that true?. Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks Jack

to be on the safe side, if
your pc has a standard keyboard
port, you should use it instead
of the usb.

another way to start the win cd
is to run the setup/install via
your explorer. it will launch/run
like any regular program. but again
you might need a regular keyboard
to use some of the menu's during
install/repair.

what might be a reasonable option
is to go to start then run: sfc /scannow

with the win cd in your drive, the sfc
will compare your system files and
replace any faulty ones with the cd.

it wouldn't hurt to try this and see
if you can fix whatever it is your tryin
to fix.....

Do you have more than 1 CD or DVD drive?
If so try the other one. The BIOS may only allow boot from one of them (the
one in master position).
