Nervous Nancy

I had so many problems with my computer after working wiht
Dell tech support we reinstalled windowxp-my problem is I
am scared to death of going back to windows update page
and getting the updates, that is when all my troubles
started. What would happen if I didn't do this?? Does
Anyone not do this?

Hi,

Without knowing the actual problem:
You need to spot which update caused the problem. Install the updates one by one to check that.
Without the WindowsUpdates, your PC will remain vulnerable to worms, trojans etc.

I'm no computer technician, however I never previously
installed windows updates. I just ignored them all.

Hi Nancy,
You leave yourself open to virus attacks that
take advantage of weaknesses in Windows which Microsoft
has remedied in their updates.
I went without updates when I had Windows ME
until a virus or trojan broke my machine and put me
through 2 weeks of Hell until I finally upgraded to XP.
Now I pay attention to those updates.

The Easy Day

After some people go out of their way to find access points into XP,
Microsoft do their best to supply patches and fixes to prevent that access
being used.. it is a continuing battle between those who seek to undermine
XP and Microsoft.. it really is best to get the updates.. if you have to,
get them one at a time and check for stability after each one, but get
them..
