Reinstalling Windows XP

I've reinstalled Windows XP Home Edition from the CD and
i had every critical windodws updates installed onto my
computer, and now that i reinstalled XP, all my critical
updates that i downloaded are all gone and my computer is
running alot slower than usual. will re-downloading and
re-installing the critical updates fix this? please help
me, thanks for the support.

you have a virus.

1 turn on the xp firewall
2 turn off system restore
update your virus definitions
and reboot to safe mode scan and remove the virus
3 get all the windows critical updates
