How and where do I find the correct file name for SP2 to delete it and
reinstall it. I did a search for SP2 and came up with a tone of files. I am
attempting to reinstall because I have tried to save to movie with no luck
AND I have tried all other suggestions to fix the problem. I am to the
understanding the by reinstalling SP2 Movie Maker will be reinstalled.

Download Windows XP SP2

Generally, users install from the net but this
site allows you to download the complete
file to your hard drive before installing.

It's good for a network administrator because
you can burn it on a CD and install it on as
many computers as you need to.

And it's good for a single machine because
if you ever need to install it again...you'll have
it available without waiting for a download.

Should I first try to uninstall MM then if that doesn't correct the problem,
try uninstalling SP2?

You cannot uninstall Movie Maker
2.1 separately from SP2.

I suggest that you 'carefully' read the
articles I posted for you.

Personally, I think I would be looking
at doing some maintenance on the
system, and I would want to know what
format the original source files were in.
JPEG, MPEG and MP3 can cause
issues.

And I'm not convinced that reinstalling
Movie Maker is going to solve your
problems.

However...if you want to try it...here's
what I would do...

Download SP2 to the desktop...

Dis-connect from the net...

Create a System Restore point.

Shut down all programs especially
virus scanners, firewalls etc...

Uninstall SP2 through Add-Remove
Programs.

Install SP2.

Good Luck!
