Reinstalled Vista and lost my email messages and contacts

I reinstalled Vista today because Internet Explorer suddenly stopped working
after Windows Updates were installed. I inadvertantly lost all of my email
messages and my Contacts. Any advice on retrieving them, or am I out of
luck?

Unless you formatted the hard drive, a new install of Vista will save
all your old data in a folder called Windows.old. Look for that folder.
If you find it, look inside for \Users\username\Contacts
and \Users\username\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Mail.
You may have to fix your Folder Options in order to see hidden files.
