Reinstallation of WinXP Pro

W

William Mussman

I purchased and installed WinXP Pro (Academic) on a computer in 2002.
About 6 months ago I purchased another system, with an OEM version of
Win XP (Home). I then reformatted the HD on the XP Pro system and
gave the system to my father. He uses software for a engraving system
that is not compatible with 2000/XP, so I installed his copy of
Win98se.

I have a second system that has a preinstalled version of Win2000. I
would like to upgrade the OS to XP Pro. Can I install the WinXP disc
I purchased in 2002, which is has not been installed on any computer
in the last 6 months? I do not want to install it only to find out I
will have activation hassels.

Hi William,

Yes, you can provided it is a retail version. Activation should not be an
issue.
