We purchased our Gateway computer from Gateway and it is the OEM version
(everything pre-installed). I recently got a Trojan virus on the computer and
can not get it off. I am completely unable to get into the registry and have
tried everything with Norton. AdAware, and eWido softwares. They can't delete
the darn thing at all.

I am stuck having to do a reinstallation but have no disks or anything.

This virus is quickly making itself bigger.

Is there ANY way I can reinstall my computer without having to purchase a
whole new Windows XP edition? I have no money to pay for that so I am stuck.

Please help. I would realllllllly appreciate it!

Contact Gateway support and order their
Windows XP Recovery CD.

It should have come with one of these there options to recover the system:

1. Windows installation CD
2. Recovery CD
3. Hidden partition on the hard drive with an image of the system.

If you don't have 1 or 2, then there should be 3. Contact Gateway tech
support for info on how to do a recovery or check the documentation that
came with the system.

Have you done all checks in safe mode. Update all the anti-malware
programs then boot into safe mode and run them.

Also make sure you have a firewall that is active in safe mode, then

One should always have the CD for the OS you want to use. Demand one
from your pc maker.
