Reinstall XP

M

Mort

My hard drive has completely crashed and I am getting a new
one sent to me as a warranty replacement. It will have to
be formatted.
My windows XP was an upgrade version.

1. Do I have to reinstall Windows 98 before installing XP?
2. How do I handle the activation phase?
3. Will Microsoft charge ?

I would appreciate any comments.

If you have the windows 98 cd then you do not need to reinstall 98. Change
your bios to boot from the XP cd and follow the prompts to partition, format
and install XP on your new disk. During the install process you will be
asked to insert the 98 cd to show proof of using the upgrade version.
Activation will be painless and free.
