Some of my system files seem to be corrupted.
What happens if I reinstall windows 2000 on an existing
system? Do I need to install all my applications?

After I do this what is the best and cheapest way to image
my C Drive.

Thanks

From a command prompt;
sfc /scannow
verifies the versions of all protected system files. If any are found to be
corrupt or incorrect version, they will be replaced.
