I am planning to do a clean reinstall of XP home.
Is there a site or any help document on how to perform
this function smoothly and effectively. I am concerned
about reactivating the software. Also, I was told the on
setup XP has a partitioning wizard. Is this true?
The documentation I got with the computer was a vague
booklet.

Thanks

Greetings --

Simply boot from the WinXP installation CD. You'll be offered the
opportunity to delete, create, and format partitions as part of the
installation process. (You may need to re-arrange the order of boot
devices in the PC's BIOS to boot from the CD.)

You do it as part of a reinstall of the system after booting the XP CD
direct. Enter Setup, and after the license agreement take New Install.
When it asks you to confirm where, hit ESC; select and delete the
current partition and make a new RAW one to be formatted at the next
stage. At this point you will be able to specify the size partition you
want for the system. Delete other partitions in the process if you
want. Make others after the setup is complete, at Control Panel - Admin
Tools - Computer Management, select Disk Management and look lower right
for the graphic of the drive.. R-click in Unallocated space, and Create
Partition.

The newly reinstalled system will not have any record of ever being
activated - you will have the usual 30 days in which to get on the net
and activate it again. As long as it is the same machine as before,
that will go through in seconds, just like the first time. Do not
bother with the registration aspect.
