I'm doing a clean reinstall of XP Pro which I've done before but my harddrive
disks, which is the 1st thing to re-load, need to be replaced. I've forgotten
how or where I first got them yeas ago! and was wondering if anyone knows how
to do it. Thx

Nowadays when you buy drives from the major makers (e.g.
Western Digital) you usually get with them reliable advice on
how to instal them in a PC (and usually free software to clone
old drives too.) You could try browsing their web sites. You
need to know beforehand whether your new drive will be SATA
or PATA (old, IDE:) they use different cables.

Your post is ambiguous, means what exactly?
"but my harddrive disks, which is the 1st thing to re-load, need to be
replaced."
Does it mean you want to replace the drive or does it mean I need to install
something first, eg sata controler driver

When installing Windows I get "setup did not find any hard disk drives installed." I may be wrong but I thought this was because I didn't press f6 and load the hd drivers. Or can a reinstall be done strictly using the original XP disk?

Sorry, please excuse this. My son is learning how to "respond" and clearly
needs a little more supervision.

That means you have a SATA hard drive and you will need to press F6 and
install the SATA driver from a floppy disk. The floppy disk with the driver
came with your mainboard. If you don't have the floppy disk, download the
driver from the website of the maker of the mainboard and prepair a floppy
from the download.
