Registy setting for My Music folder is corrupted!!

I am trying to install iTunes and am continually told that the program cannot
locate the My Music folder. The folder icon is just a folder- not, for
example. like My Pictures which still as the icon that shows a picture coming
out of the folder.

Does anyone have any idea how to fix this?

Can a layman edit his own registry?

Thanks much.

Use the free Microsoft TweakUI utility.

You can download TweakUI from
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp

After it is installed start TweakUI and select the Repair menu item. Use the drop down menu to select "Repair My Music icon" and then click the "Repair Now" button.
