Registry Storgage location

I'm curious as to where the Registry file (folder?) is stored in XP.
Specifically, when I do a simple backup using the NT Backup utility, am I
backing up the registry as well?

Thanks for any insights.

The Registry is stored at -
\Windows\System32\Config
There are active Hives, backups, Logs and a version that
was created when XP was 1st installed (.Sav)

The User Hive component is found in each user's profile
root directory as, NTUser.Dat

If you backup the system state, then yes the registry is backed up. To
restore it, restore the system state. I prefer to use a different utility
to make a daily backup of the registry that can be restored through the
recovery console. I use ERUNT. Here are some links for it.

ERUNT
http://www.larshederer.homepage.t-online.de/erunt/
http://www.larshederer.homepage.t-online.de/erunt/erunt.txt

Installing and Using ERUNT
http://www.silentrunners.org/sr_eruntuse.html
http://www.winxptutor.com/regback.htm

The registry is stored in several files in different folders.

Most of them are in the %systemroot%\System32\Config folder [normally
C:\windows\system32\config]:
Default
Sam
Security
Software
System

And the user portion are kept in Ntuser.dat and Ntuser.dat.log files in the
root directory.
