After deleting a stack of programs/files etc now get message at boot up
"Windows can't find c:\scanner\exe16\AM.exe...remove from registry"
How to I open the registry?
How do I delete any reference to the offending file from the registry?
Thanks.

Run msconfig.exe, select the Startup tab, then untick the
line that refers to the "AM" application.

Does your suggestion remove registry entry or disable the attempt to
start AM.exe?

Hope this helps.

It disables it. I suspect that the OP is not very familiar with the
registry, hence a dialog box with tick boxes might be a more
comfortable solution.
