Registry problem

I initially installed a program called "restore it", but decided to uninstall
and remove it. However, there is a registry entry remaining, which returns
even after I have deleted the entry in "Reg edit".
Is there any way to permanently delete this entry, or should I just leave it
alone?

Never used Restore It - but it sounds like youve still got it on your system,
and it sounds like Restore It must be a bit of a Malware peice of software.

Use
AVG antivirus
Ad Aware Se
SpyBot - Search and Destroy
and Hijack this (A bit complicated, but if you know the registry then this
is very useful)

No, it is a legitimate programme which I decided to uninstall. I run
anti-spyware programs regularly. The problem is that I cannot get rid of a
particular registry entry referring to this programme

Hmm - that's a nice program...

....but back to the piont - legitimate software that has gone through the
uninstall process should have only rudimentry registry keys left over., if
these are the ones that you want to delete then make sure your deleting from
'Local Machine' instead of User/Current user. - could be why you keep getting
back the registry entry, but doubt it!... so I still say there is something
fishy going on.
-note that only software or scripts can add registry entries, so what ever
program that is doing it is still there.

Peace out.

PS 'not' a certified Microsoft Professional.

One option is to check with "Restore It" tech support for how to fully
remove their program. Another option is leave it in place. Is it causing
any problems that you can tell? A third choice is look at the permissions
for that reg key. Right click on it, choose permissions, and change them to
allow your account access.
