registry problem - entries not visible

I have no entry in registry for java update scheduler (jusched.exe) and
despite that it is launched during startup. What's more msconfig keeps
telling that jusched.exe is in the registry where it should be
(..\current version\run either curr usr or loc mach), but it is NOT.
How come it happens? I do not mind not having jusched.exe in reg but i
have some other shit there i cannot delete because it is not visible
there, although msconfig says it is.
Any ideas with ghost registry entries?

As i said the problem is not within jushed.exe. I have some apps
running on startup that are not mentioned in the registry, in startup
folder or msconfig.|

Actually, there must be a call somewhere for a process/service to start.

What is it that's running that you cannot locate it's Start mechanism ?
Have you checked the Services key in HKey_Local_Machine ?
