RegCompact

http://www.setiathomescreensaverspeed.co.uk/downloads/shareware/regcompact/screenshots.htm

Freeware - Win9x/WinME/WinNT/Win2000/WinXP

The registry is the heart of the Windows O/S. Data relating to everything on a
PC is stored in the registry (ranging from software configurations to document
data). When a program is uninstalled or an item deleted from Windows a space is
left in the registry. This space isn't reclaimed until it is overwritten by new
data, as a result the registry slowly becomes fragmented and bloaty.

This reduces Windows performance and it slows boot up.

Enter RegCompact. With the click of a button it will defragment (compact) the
registry and get things back up to speed. Simple and effective - excellent
stuff!

License says it's shareware and you must donate if you find it useful.
Doesn't have an uninstaller and doesn't show up in Add/Remove programs
(Win2K).

You have to uninstall it manually. Although it reported compacting my
hives, they show as unchanged in the erunt backup made immediately
before running it, except SYSTEM which increased in size from
5,259,264 to 5,267,456.

Needless to say, it's gone from my system now.
