Registry Locked

When ever I try to install or uninstall software it fails
because the registry cannot be updated. I always get the
following message:

Code 1019
System could not allocated the required space in the
registry log.

I don't get it - have plenty of free drive space and am
logged in as admin.

Any ideas?

I don't have a 2000 system in front of me atm, but you should check to
see the size of your Registry. There is a max size and you may have
reached it. Look under System proeprties, advanced, performance...
somewhere around there.
